About the Friends

Formed in 2009, the Friends of Coleman Memorial Park is a non-profit, 501 (c)(3) registered charitable organization comprised of volunteers. We are committed to raising funds to support the Park Board of Trustee's mission and to enrich the lives of those in our community by providing a place of natural beauty, peaceful inspiration and family oriented recreational activities.

Volunteers

Volunteers are a vital part of Coleman Memorial Park. Coleman Memorial Park is always looking for enthusiastic volunteers and can offer opportunities for many rewarding experiences.

Many special events, activities and maintenance projects during the year are made possible only because of the dedicated efforts of park volunteers. With the need for volunteers increasing every year, we invite you to become an active volunteer and help support the park. This is a perfect way to get to know your neighbors and become involved in a worthwhile cause in contributing towards a stronger community and more beautiful park.

Contribute

For the past 75 years Coleman Memorial Park has provided the community with nature, history, recreation and family fun while maintaining traditions of the past and preserving the park for future generations to come. With the next 75 years approaching Coleman Memorial Park is poised on the edge of looking at the future and planning how the park will best serve the community. Coleman Memorial Park depends upon the support of individuals and area businesses to carry out its mission. When recreation funding is stretched to meet the needs of a growing population, donations furnish the financial assistance necessary to maintain the park and achieve a number of worthwhile goals. Your support is critical in the ongoing effort to preserve, interpret, and present to the public an inviting park that is rich in history and bursting with activity.

We want a ground to which people may easily go after their day's work is done, and where they may stroll for an hour, seeing, hearing, and feeling nothing of the bustle and jar of the streets … We want the greatest possible contrast with the restraining and confining conditions of the town, which compel us to walk circumspectly, watchfully, jealously, which compel us to look closely upon others without sympathy. ... a simple broad, open space of greensward ... depth of wood and enough about it ... to completely shut out the city from our landscapes. -Fredrick Law Olmstead
